Many of the paintings I’ve made are about journeys.  I’ve always felt a deep affinity with the landscape on a number of levels - as a wilderness, as a place of spirit and meditation, and as a playground.   The paintings are a kind of meditation, a way of exploring real or imagined places.  The evolving world seems to me to be alive with a kind of visual music, and when I paint, it’s that musicality that inspires me.

Trees are a recurring theme, a symbol of ancient wisdom and the fragility of our relationship with the earth.  Time spent painting in the forests of West Wales and the temperate Canadian rainforest and commercial plantations informed some of the work.  Some of these pieces have appeared in exhibitions in England and Wales, some are commissions and some are simply journeys I’ve made for the joy and challenge of it.
