Drawings for books, magazines, festivals, wildlife organisations, bespoke commissions and beyond, some educational, some poignant, some pure whimsy - most made with acrylic inks or watercolours, using pen and brush. My eye has always fallen on things that make me smile or provoke delight. In my early years, I was immersed in the wordplay and wild imagination of Douglas Adams and Tolkien and my Dad’s tapes of the Goon Show, and simultaneously enveloped in ornithology and maps and dictionaries, revelling in the Norse legacy of the Northern landscapes of thwaites and becks and gills, captivated by rocks and clouds. This, and much else, has found its way into my drawings.
My work has been commissioned by Hodder & Stoughton, Macmillan, HarperCollins, b small and others, and for the National Trusts, Greenbelt Festival, RSPB, Wildlife Trusts, Juno and Resurgence magazines. Alongside illustrations for commercial projects, I make pieces for the sheer spontaneous delight of it, and unique commissions - you are very welcome to drop me a line here if you have a piece or project you'd like to explore making.
